TNK Festival 2011 Chicago

Here at the hostel we’re psyched about the TNK Festival coming to Chicago January 12-16th at Lincoln Hall, Metro, and Schubas.  A 5 day pass is $100 and includes an opening night reception, free cocktails, trolley travel between the venues, and a chance to meet some Chicago rock critics.  Otherwise, the shows are $15 a piece.

Lakeview, home of The Chicago Cubs, about a dozen vintage clothing shops, record stores, restaurants, an independent film theater, a myriad of bars, and the list goes on and on.  This neighborhood is within walking distance to the hostel (just make a left on Clark St.).  We recommend exploring this one.

November Events in Chicago’s Autumn Season

No, that building is not erupting in festive flames, this is just a small part of The Magnificent Mile Lights Festival.  This event has been going on for over 40 years along the acclaimed Michigan Ave. and once again lights up on Nov. 20th.  The light procession begins at 5:30pm, and the fireworks start at 7pm along North Michigan Ave and the Chicago River.

Things to do in Chicago September 2010

Chicago is becoming big music fest central.  We know you’ve heard of Pitchfork and Lallapalooza, but we’d like to introduce you to a new concert series, NorthCoast Music Festival.  This is a celebratory concoction of hip hop, electronic, dance and indy music occuring at Union Park Labor Day Weekend, which is just a quick train ride from our hostel.  Check this fest out, musicians like De La Soul, Chemical Brothers, Lupe Fiasco, Moby, and Nas will be performing and you have the option of purchasing a 1 day pass for $35 or a 3 day pass for $75.  Just because summer ends in September, doesn’t mean Chicago events cease as well….

Summer Festivals in Chicago

Wow.  It’s already July, but the good news is that we still have a ton of cool events for you.  From food to live bands and airplanes, check these out:

Mmmfood, let’s celebrate summer by eating and drinking outside.  Luckily, we have The Windy City Ribfest  as well as the new Roscoe Village Burger Fest to check out. These events are free to attend, include live music, and some great barbecue.  The Ribfest is going on from the 16th-18th of July, but the Burger Fest is from the 10th-11th.
