Chicago Jazz Fest circa 1979

As it began in 1979, with a tremendous turn out of 50,000, this creative showcase exhibits jazz at its finest, read about the history here, & come to Chicago for the FREE fest.

The 2012 Jazz Fest takes over the major downtown parks:

**Millenium Park (Michigan Ave. & Randolph St.) : Thursday & Friday, 6:30pm-9:30 pm.

**Grant Park (Michigan Ave. & Jackson) Saturday & Sunday, 11am-9:30pm.

But wait, the historic Green Mill displays jazz music on a nightly basis.  Just a short ride on public transit to Broadway & Lawrence, this venue has been open for ages (dating back to the Prohibition Era and emits quite a history).  Music usually kicks off about 9pm, and the bar serves great cocktails.
