Enriched with a lengthy life span dating back to the Prohibition Era, the jazz is showcased no better at any other venue than the Green Mill Lounge. In fact, its legacy dates back to 1907 and was a hangout for infamous mob boss Al Capone. Today, they display not only some of the best live jazz music in the city, but they also function as an excellent cocktail bar as well. Visit the one & only Katerina at Katerina’s Lounge as she orchestrates some of the best live jazz & world music in a comfortable neighborhood club. There menu is packed with good food options like their taverna meatballs & braised pork (both family recipes) as well as a good drink list. The owner describes it best: “It’s a cultural center showcasing the hippest jazz, funk, blues, boogie-woogie blues, R&B, classical and world music – from Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, Greek, Flamenco and Japanese to all Gypsy Genres & then some! Travel the world of music in our intimate space as each night presents a musical odyssey born from a whispering solo of an upright bass to a foot-stomping rhythm of flamenco!” 1920 W Irving Park Rd.
Andy’s Jazz Club is a bit more on the formal side, featuring a nice sit down restaurant, bar, and music that is lively & consistent. There is a two drink minimum per table, but the drinks are reasonably priced. If you are in the Loop area, and looking for a nice venue to recap the day, check out Andy’s as their live sets are always worth the trip. $10 cover charge at 11 E. Hubbard St.

Why should you venture here? Well, Wednesdays offer FREE JAZZ coupled with their $5 signature long island ice teas.
