  1. What is a Hostel?

    A hostel is an inexpensive lodging facility that provides overnight housing for travelers. Guests have a choice of staying in a dormitory style or private room. Upon arrival, visitors receive linens and a pillow. The Chicago Getaway Hostel strives to meet and exceed its guest’s expectations by providing only high levels of quality from the beginning and service to the end.

  2. How do I make a reservation?

    To make a reservation visit our Reservations Page, or you can call one of our friendly staff members at +1 (773) 929-5380.

  3. When do you charge my credit card?

    Upon check in, your credit card will be charged; nothing will be charged prior to your check in time.

  4. What time is check-in?

    Check in time is typically at 3 P.M., but you may check in earlier if your room has been cleaned or if you are checking into a dormitory.

  5. How much are the rooms?

    Payment must be received in full at time of check in. You may pay with Visa, MasterCard or Cash. If by chance you need to cancel your reservation you must notify the Chicago Getaway Hostel 48 Hours prior to arrival to avoid any penalty fees charged to your credit card.

  7. Is there a place to store my things?

    Yes, we have a storage area, which costs $1 per bag. We also have small lockers for $.25; here you can store smaller items.

  8. Is there an age limit?

    The Chicago Getaway Hostel does not have any age restrictions, however, a parent or chaperone must accompany travelers under the age of 18.

  9. Who can stay at a hostel?

    Anyone can stay here as long as they don’t live within a 50-mile radius of the hostel.

  10. Does the hostel supply linens?

    Yes, we supply sheets, blankets, pillows and towels all for no charge. Guests must supply their own toiletries.

  11. Where are you located?

    We are located in the heart of Lincoln Park, on a quiet, tree-lined street on Chicago’s North side. Our location is conveniently located near our famous train known as the “EL” and bus transportation. We are within a few blocks of some of Chicago’s best sites, including: Blues bars Jazz clubs, the lakefront, and Lincoln Park and its famous zoo. . We are a short trip to the cities major attracts like Millennium Park, Museums, Navy Pier and for ones shopping needs the Magnificent Mile. The Chicago Getaway Hostel is the perfect location for your entertainment needs at the right price.

  12. Do you supply food?

    We supply a free continental breakfast as well as free coffee to our guests. We also have a full vending area that has a pizza machine, snacks, and drinks. We also have a self-service kitchen for you to prepare your own food. The Chicago Getaway Hostel is conveniently located in the thriving Lincoln Park area where there are also grocery stores and many small cafes and restaurants for you to choose from depending on your personal preferences.

  13. Is there monthly housing available?

    Monthly reservations are available but guests must speak directly with the manager of the Chicago Getaway Hostel to discuss their accommodations in detail.

  14. Do you have parking?

    We do not have parking available. However, street parking is available and a parking facility is only 2 blocks away.

  15. Are you close to public transportation?

    We are one block away from the C.T.A. bus stop where you can catch the (#22Clark, #36 Broadway, #151 Sheridan) and we are three blocks away from the “EL” train (Fullerton) stop. See our directions page for more details.

  16. Why should I stay in Lincoln Park?

    There are many reasons but here are just a few:
