Great Outdoor Patios in Chicago

17 Jul

Let’s embrace the city sun this summer & have some delicious food and drinks at these great patios:

In the heart of Wicker Park, Big Star serves some of the best gourmet tacos we’ve had.  Whether its their perfectly marinated pork belly, or their unforgettable Tacos de Pescado (fish tacos), their menu also boasts $3 whiskey shots & $2 Tecates which seals the deal when hanging out on their spacious patio.  Although the main outdoor dining area can get insanely crowded, a solid alternative is ordering at the take out window and eating on one of their picnic tables.  1531 N. Damen Ave.

Good bar food, and an excellent beer list can be found at the neighborhood Small Bar in Logan Square.  Get decadent and order the fried cheese curds, or go brave and get the Hellfire (a half pound of certified angus beef with sautéed onions, pepper jack cheese, pickled jalapenos and sriracha aoli for an extra kick).  This place is nestled on side streets and has a great level of comfort! Also,  take advantage of their wide variety of microbrews at 2956 N. Albany.

Happy Village Patio.

Looking for a relaxing neighborhood spot with a beautiful outdoor area?  Look no further than Happy Village in Ukranian Village.  They have a secret garden area in the back that will impress any bar hopping enthusiast.  But wait, they also have a room with ping pong tables.  Yes, FREE ping pong & good beer!  Have a good night while drinking cheap at 1059 N. Wolcott Ave.

One of our favorite vegan restaurants also has a great tree-covered patio.  Handlebar is a bike friendly bar & grill that specializes in mostly vegetarian dishes (try the vegan chorizo burrito), all their food comes from local farms and their tangy housemade margaritas are always a memorable order.  Fried Avocado Tacos and an excellent beer list?  Yes, please at 2311 W North Ave.

Twisted Spoke Rooftop.

Twisted Spoke is a motorcycle bar with an extensive food menu as well as a rooftop deck open for drinking & dining.  The menu includes about 5 pages of specialty, craft, and unique beers.  In addition, they serve delicious brunches, lunches, & dinners.  We recommend the fried egg sandwich (on marble rye) or one of their Fatboys (half pound organic burgers customized how you want).  All this goodness can be found at 501 N Ogden Ave.
